Twisted

Bent, curly, inter-twined material or warped state of mind.

I found this tree at the Botanical Gardens near the zoo. It just captivated me. Life has a way of leaving you twisted and tangled. You start out okay, then life happens and you get to a point where you don't know how to unravel yourself.

Bathe

To immerse ones body in water or light.
I found Nemo bathing in a tank with some Sea Anemone. He's sooo cute.

Delicate

To be very fine in texture, structure or workmanship.

I'm not a fan of critters and things that go bump in the night, but the lizard was posing for a picture and I obliged. I remember when I was young and the mean boys would grab the lizards' fragile tails off and chase us girls around with the wiggling tails. Ewwhhh!!!

Road

A way of course on which to travel.
Imagine driving and anticipating gliding down those gorgeous slopes. Exhilarating!!!

Yellow

A golden colour - vibrant, sunny and warm.
I wonder what it's like to be a bee. I guess someone beat me to that question when they came up with the B movie. Maybe I'll check it out when it comes out on DVD.

Sad

Feeling or showing sorrow.

This is one of my good friends, who's living large in LA. We were working on a music video. This is the "my boyfriend's cheating on me and locked me out in the rain" scene. Pretty sad, huh.

Say, do or show the same thing again or form a pattern.

I wonder what treasures he found that day. I didn't realize people really went searching for treasure with metal detectors on the beach. Thought it was only in the movies. He's probably a good person to go to for some change.

Bringing my space to my workspace. In a hospital, everything is secured.

A long strudy piece of wood or metal, or the delivery of mail and parcels.This is a small garden in the midst of the Houston Medical Center. Kinda out of place but nice & tranquil. Very easy to miss.

Lever

A bar resting on a pivot used to help move a heavy load.

The ever-growing Medical Center. Cranes, cones, construction everywhere.

Moss

A low growing, spore producing plant with no roots that grows in damp conditions.

All the moss in my apartment complex just weren't very attractive. Sorry, this was the best I could do. I discovered other nasty things growing in low, damp places...Eewwww!

Speed

Rapidity of movement or action.

My little-big brother in all his glory. May all his dreams come true.

Pen

An instrument, filled with ink for writing or drawing.

My co-workers get a kick out of my pen collection. Every color has a purpose and every pen gets used, it keeps me organized. Why be mundane with basic black & blue?

Flag

A piece of cloth attached by one edge to a pole or rope.

Thought I'd be patriotic.

Instrument

A tool, object, implement or device.

I'm not musically inclined and therefore, don't happen to have any musical instruments laying around. It took forever to find something, when all along I just needed to look at my walls.

Just because I can't play anything, doesn't mean I can't love music. I love my paintings.

Bubble

A thin sphere of liquid (plastic in my case) enclosing air.

I have a bunch of bubble-wrap piled in a corner of my kitchen. I tend to collect things in addition to my OCD. You never know when you may need something.

Chill

A coolness in the air, a reduction in temperature, the onset of a cold or just plain chillin' out!

A small bowl shaped container usually for holding liquids.

I try to make it easy for my friends when it comes to getting me souvenirs when traveling. I have a great shot glass collection from all over the world. As you can see, I live vicariously through them. Check out the bokeh (my new word). Picture taken with my new D300 & 50mm f/1.8.

Fly

...like a bird, like a plane, like a boy??!!!

This was post shoot for a family christmas portrait. I asked the kids to impersonate their favorite super-hero and take it to the sky. Can you tell which one is Spiderman?

This is the White Balance Menu on my new Nikon D300...OMG!!!! This camera is so much fun. Now I have to get really serious.

Peg

A clasping device used to hang or hold down.

I found it convenient to hang my necklaces for easier access.  And being that I'm OCD (Obsessive-Compulsive), each peg is categorized.

I don't know how you guys keep up.  I had a few out-of-town guests this past week and didn't have the time to appreciate my space.  But I managed to catch up.  Enjoy.

Book

Bounded collection of pages or to determine a reservation.

If there's one thing that I have too much of, it's books. My library covers African-American fiction, interior design, self-help & spirituality, cooking, African history & culture, college textbooks galore, and of course photography. A person should never run out of books to read.

Blanket

Fabric sheeting to cover, warm and disguise.

Not my favorite blanket, but it gets the job done.

I purchased cucumbers because I wanted to try a new recipe for my new crock pot. Never make Salmon Cucumber Risotto...absolutely disgusting!!!! I couldn't even give it away to the homeless.

I love my surround sound. It's the theatre experience at home.

A group of my friends and I decided that we would take annual ski trips (something I thought I would never do). Last year we skied at Winter Park, Colorado and this year we snowboarded at Breckenridge, Colorado. We're having a blast.

SPS

Playing around with my self-timer.  It's a lot of running back and forth, so I got a good workout (needed it).  I ordered the remote, so next week I'll be back to my lazy self.  I guess I was going for the "America's Next Top Model" look.

Badge

I consider this my badge of honor because I was honored to have the opportunity to change a child's life. I worked as a summer camp counselor for Rainbow Connection, which is an organization dedicated to giving children with cancer and blood disorders an opportunity to be kids. These children face so many challenges in their lives, more than we could even bare, and yet their spirit and their innocence are unbreakable.

Jar

These are decorative jars that I have aimlessly hanging around my kitchen.  I love their shape and the way the colors pop.  My kitchen walls are also this color.  If I had to be a season, I think I'd be Fall.

Fluff

Soft fibers that accumulate in small clumps.

I passed some dandelions this morning when coming in from work and after checking the blog, got excited about my morning encounter. Needless to say, the wind visited the dandelions before I managed to wake up and say hello. So, I struggled at first, trying to be creative with "fluff" while walking around my cold apartment. And hey, what better way to keep warm than with a cozy scarf.

Calm

Also known as serene or tranquil.

This was taken early last year in San Diego as the day was coming to an end, calming down. My 1st post, so excited.

Inspiration

What would have been a wasted Monday of fiddling on the computer and surfing the Internet, too afraid to fight the bitter cold that sneaked in and surprised Houston, ended with grand exaltation. Okay, I may be pushing it a little, but hey, it's a big deal for me. I managed to run across the Her Space-My Space blog and got excited. I needed a little bit of inspiration, a jump start you may say to get the wheels turning. Needless to say, it's 3am and I'm setting up my blog so that I can start exploring my space.
